Book Summary:

Unchained is a soul-awakening account of life after childhood trauma, of one woman choosing to let go of who she thought she was so she could become who she was meant to be. Tonya Whittle’s story reflects what happens to so many women when they pretend trauma didn’t happen: who they become, what they do, and how they create a vision of themselves for protection. But what happens when the life someone is running from collides with the life they’ve created? Unchained shares Tonya’s own journey through the collapse of a life falsely created, exposing her wounds and forcing the truth. Tonya encourages other women to take off their own masks, face their truths, and do the inner work necessary to live life fully, ultimately leading to healing and rebuilding. Unchained takes women on a journey to the soul, from head to heart, from fear to faith, from girls gone wild to wild soul women. For anyone who feels disconnected from life, who is just getting by, simply existing, Tonya reaches out to encourage them to let go of the things that have happened to them and thrive despite those traumas. In the face of #metoo and #timesup, her story serves as an instruction manual for how ancient wisdom, and the process of facing the past, lead to an amazing future—no matter what happened.

Book Summary:

Throughout history people have faced unbelievable, seemingly impossible situations through war, genocide, poverty and political oppression. Yet, even in those dire situations, they have prevailed against all odds through bold action and their deep faith in Christ. “Unchained” takes the reader amidst fourteen centuries of such amazing triumphs...from the Battle of Tours in France through the Battle of Vienna in 1683 into the horrific Armenian genocide of the last century and then through the author’s own rousing life. The stories will both astound and inspire you. However, “Unchained” is more than an inspirational history lesson; it contains the amazing fairy tale “The Knight and the Butterfly” that is a vibrant, colorful and moving story for children and adults alike. There is also the probing, somewhat comical story “The Question” that tears both a man and the Bible apart, piece by piece, flaw by flaw, only to have the Godly truth revealed in the end. If that isn’t enough for the reader, “Unchained” includes dozens of the author’s emotional poems of Poe-like dark and decadent design and then moves through his mystical and thought-provoking oeuvre. The reader is then taken on one last, incredible trip through time with Archangel Gabriel from the beginning of time straight through to the rapture. The epic poem frames the evolution of earth and the beginning and the end of civilization, the struggle between faith and science as well as the dreadful failings and the astounding victories of man. How does the world end? Read it and find out. Even Nostradamus would raise an eyebrow. However, “Unchained” is more than a collection of different tales and poetry. The astute reader will find common threads through all the stories, both in the characters and the action; moreover, that the real and the fictional are all inter-related. Discerning booklovers will recognize that, in fact, “Unchained” is one singular opus.

Book Summary:

Django Unchained is certainly Quentin Tarantino's most commercially-successful film and is arguably also his most controversial. Fellow director Spike Lee has denounced the representation of race and slavery in the film, while many African American writers have defended the white auteur. The use of extremely graphic violence in the film, even by Tarantino's standards, at a time when gun control is being hotly debated, has sparked further controversy and has led to angry outbursts by the director himself. Moreover, Django Unchained has become a popular culture phenomenon, with t-shirts, highly contentious action figures, posters, and strong DVD/BluRay sales. The topic (slavery and revenge), the setting (a few years before the Civil War), the intentionally provocative generic roots (Spaghetti Western and Blaxploitation) and the many intertexts and references (to German and French culture) demand a thorough examination. Befitting such a complex film, the essays collected here represent a diverse group of scholars who examine Django Unchained from many perspectives.

Book Summary:

Arriving in California as a young boy in the early 1960s, Edward Van Halen and his brother Alex were ripe for the coming musical revolution. The sons of a Dutch, saxophone-playing father, the brothers discovered the Beatles, Cream and others. From the moment their hugely influential 1978 debut landed, Van Halen set a high bar for the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, creating an entirely new style of post-'60s hard rock and becoming the quintessential Californian band of the 1980s. But there was also an undercurrent of tragedy to their story, as Eddie's struggles played out in public, from his difficult relationship with the band's original singer, Dave Lee Roth, to substance abuse, divorce and his long-running battle with cancer. With unique insights, Paul Brannigan's Eruption reaches beyond the headlines to explore the cultural and social contexts that shaped this iconic guitarist, while also turning up the dial on a life lived at volume eleven.

Book Summary:

A stellar group of America's leading political thinkers explore how to reboot our democracy The presidential election of 2016 highlighted some long-standing flaws in American democracy and added a few new ones. Across the political spectrum, most Americans do not believe that democracy is delivering on its promises of fairness, justice, shared prosperity, or security in a changing world. The nation cannot even begin to address climate change and economic justice if it remains paralyzed by political gridlock. Democracy Unchained is about making American democracy work to solve problems that have long impaired our system of governance. The book is the collective work of thirty of the most perceptive writers, practitioners, scientists, educators, and journalists writing today, who are committed to moving the political conversation from the present anger and angst to the positive and constructive change necessary to achieve the full promise of a durable democracy that works for everyone and protects our common future. Including essays by Yasha Mounk on populism, Chisun Lee on money and politics, Ras Baraka on building democracy from the ground up, and Bill McKibben on climate, Democracy Unchained is the articulation of faith in democracy and will be required reading for all who are working to make democracy a reality. Book Summary:

In Unchained Voices, Vincent Carretta has assembled the most comprehensive anthology ever published of writings by eighteenth-century people of African descent, enabling many of these authors to be heard for the first time in two centuries. Their writings reflect the surprisingly diverse experiences of blacks on both sides of the Atlantic-America, Britain, the West Indies, and Africa-between 1760 and 1798. Letters, poems, captivity narratives, petitions, criminal autobiographies, economic treatises, travel accounts, and antislavery arguments were produced during a time of various and changing political and religious loyalties. Although the theme of liberation from physical or spiritual captivity runs throughout the collection, freedom also clearly led to hardship and disappointment for a number of these authors. Briton Hammon, James Albert Ukawsaw Gronniosaw, John Marrant, Ignatius Sancho, Ottobah Cugoano, and Olaudah Equiano told their stories as Afro-Britons who recognized the sovereignty of George III; Johnson Green, Belinda, Benjamin Banneker, and Venture Smith spoke and wrote as African Americans n the United States; Phillis Wheatley, initially an Afro-British poet, later chose an African American identity; Francis Williams and George Liele wrote in Jamaica; David George and Boston King, having served with the British forces in the American Revolution and later lived in Canada, composed their narratives as British subjects in the newly established settlement in Sierra Leone, Africa. In his introduction, Carretta reconstructs the historical and cultural context of the works, emphasizing the constraints of the eighteenth-century genres under which these authors wrote. The texts and annotations are based on extensive research in both published and manuscript holdings of archives in the United States and the United Kingdom. Appropriate for undergraduates as well as for scholars, Unchained Voices gives a clear sense of the major literary and cultural issues at the heart of African literature written in English.

Book Summary:

In Africa Unchained , George Ayittey takes a controversial look at Africa's future and makes a number of daring suggestions. Looking at how Africa can modernize, build, and improve their indigenous institutions which have been castigated by African leaders as 'backward and primitive', Ayittey argues that Africa should build and expand upon these traditions of free markets and free trade. Asking why the poorest Africans haven't been able to prosper in the Twenty-first-century, Ayittey makes the answer obvious: their economic freedom was snatched from them. War and conflict replaced peace and the infrastructure crumbled. In a book that will be pondered over and argued about as much as his previous volumes, Ayittey looks at the possibilities for indigenous structures to revive a troubled continent.

Equity remains elusive in contemporary global society. Gendered inequities abound and persist but are typically overlooked in our responses to difficult problems such as climate change, poverty, or economic crisis. Despite this blind spot, gender matters more than ever for achieving social and economic progress. Gender Unchained is a revelatory and tightly argued book that offers two ways forward. First, that we embrace the smashing of the gender binary and second, that we develop gender transformative approaches to solving the larger issues of our time. Inspirational and informational in equal measure, Gender Unchained is a well-reasoned call to action that examines many facets of gender inequity and offers realworld solutions for tackling it at the root.

Book Summary:

I took a three-year break from work to explore the topic of peace, love, and success. I spent the time analyzing my thoughts and the effects my thoughts had on my emotional state of mind. The things I found out were quite intriguing. I came to the realization that many of us are not living to our full potential. We live with a measured joy. We keep our happiness in check. Our smiles are met with a restriction from our breath, which makes it short-lived. We seldom breathe fully because our breath is interrupted by the depth of our thoughts. We never really let go fully. We are bound by layers of chains that have entangled our thinkingchains from an uncertain future, chains of work, chains of relationships, chains of our finances, too many chains to mention. My time away from work gave me the opportunity to explore how to break the chains. I admit that even a broken chain is not permanently broken but can be easily reunited if old habits are not changed. My book focuses on the actions we can take to break chains and keep them broken. My book explores how our thoughts control our destiny. It teaches thought control and the importance of silence. It teaches how to overcome fear, anger, negative thoughts, stress, and hatred. You will learn how to nurture your emotions, embrace moments, and the importance of spiritual peace. I will teach you how to live in thankfulness, with compassion, while activating love.

Book Summary:

Prophesy Unchained; is written based on events noted mainly in Revelation and Daniel, supported by all other writings of Bible Prophets. Some have said, You can't judge a book by its cover... Thomas declares that, "You cannot judge a book by a single chapter". Still - religious leaders build an entire doctrine upon a half sentence or a single word. Prophesy Unchained; is written clearly - easily enough for a child to understand but too simple for an adult with a long standing history of being spoon fed convincing lies throughout a lifetime. Convinced by parents and ancestors who kept those lies alive. Many religious leaders and evangelists have become exceedingly rich by convincing people that the way to salvation is through better donations to their collection plate. Suddenly Resurrection - Chapter 2; is based on Bible information like King David still in his grave and after the First Wave resurrection of Saints to accompany Christ for 1,000 years - everyone will be in their grave to be raised more than 1,000 years later. The dead know nothing - therefore; the next thing a dead person realizes is standing on earth with a few billion others waiting for some clothing.

Book Summary:

This volume explores a number of instances of unexpected but influential readings of the Bible in popular culture, literature, film, music and politics. The argument in all of them is that the effects of the Bible continues to have an effect on contemporary culture in ways that may surprise and sometimes dismay both religious and secular groups. That the Bible was at one time chained in churches is true. The subversive misreading of this enchainment as a symbol of a book in captivity to the established church is hard to suppress, however. Yet, once released from these chains, the Bible proves to be a text that gets everywhere and which undergoes surprising and sometimes contradictory metamorphoses. The pious advocates of making the Bible accessible who sought to free it from the churches' chains are the very people who then decry some of the results when the Bible is free to roam.

Book Summary:

REVEALING THE ONLY "PROCLAMATION OF FREEDOM" DOCUMENT (Emancipation Proclamation if you will) FOR WHITE SURVIVORS OF THE 1st WHITE SLAVE COLONY (IN VIRGINIA) THAT WAS OFFICIALLY ISSUED IN 1618 AD, BUT IT WAS DELIVERED IN 1619 AD. AND NOW, 400 YEARS LATER WITH TENS OF MILLIONS OF WHITE DESCENDANTS (OUR WHITE BROTHERS & SISTERS AND FELLOW AMERICANS), WITH US ALL CO-EXISTING AND HAVING THE ABILITY TO HAVE THAT CONVERSATION ABOUT REVEALING THIS NOTED TRUTH, WE CAN ATTEMPT TO PLANT SEEDS FOR THE YOUNGER GENERATIONS TO HELP HEAL THE MENTAL ILLNESS CALLED RACISM IN AMERICA, FOR THAT MATTER, GLOBALLY. WE BELIEVE THAT PLANTING SUCH SEEDS WILL ALLOW THE OLDER GENERATION TO DISPEL FALSE PRETEXTS PROMOTED ABOUT SLAVERY IN AMERICA WITHIN OUR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS. IF THIS IS ATTEMPTED HENCEFORTH, TRUTH WILL EVENTUALLY REFLECT ITSELF THROUGH MOVIES/FILMS/LITERATURE/COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD FOR WHITE SLAVERY IN AMERICA FOR OVER 240 YEARS—1620 AD UNTIL PRESIDENT LINCOLN ISSUED THE 1863 EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION TO ABOLISH SLAVERY FOR WHITES & BLACKS … HENCE, WHAT SHORTLY FOLLOWED IN 1865 WAS THE 13TH AMENDMENT OF THE US CONSTITUTION THAT LEGALLY ABOLISHED SLAVERY AND INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE FOR THOSE WHO ESPOUSED SUCH STATUS. Go back in history with us over 400 years (1607 AD) to the 1st established English Colony in America, Virginia when the 1st system for the Institution of Indentured Servitude was attempted and failed in the New World but did succeed during the 1st Period of this launched institution that began in 1620 AD. From our formative years, however, we all learned that these Indentured Servants came from different parts of Europe to settle in the New World; but little did we know this was the 1st European Slave Colony in Virginia that lasted until 1619 AD. How do we know? Because 12-years later, in 1619, a 12-page document considered the Survivors' "Proclamation of Freedom" (Emancipation Proclamation if you will) presented in our 2nd eBook called "Novemberteenth / Aprilteenth" has been revealed, which makes this document to-date, 399 years old. And … we included a sneak preview of our Screenplay timeline for this 1st 12-year period (1607 to 1619 AD). After you read this scenario and hear some of the actual words of those who survived the 3 consecutive years of starvation (1607 to 1610) and 9 consecutive years of slavery (1610 to 1619) of these 1st 12-years--which is also presented in our 2nd eBook--challenge yourself to determine whether you can answer the 36 questions posed ... So, join us in this quest as we take a giant leap into: 1. Who really was the Indentured Servant in America for over 240 years [which had a double meaning, i.e. certain individuals in the colonies were subject to labor contracts while others were subject to the conditions of slavery--which equated itself to the process of underground White Slavery for over 240 years (based on authentic documentation)]; and 2. The 5 designated periods that evolved and represented the Institution of Indentured Servitude that later followed this 1st 12-year period of the Virginia Colony, 1607 to 1619 AD. Beyond those, find out more about from Whom, When, Why, and How the word "Negro" and its Cousin the "N" word got their negative wings for flight that is 600 years old. And last, learn why Nubian Pageant Systems called this Cultural Theme: “Indentured Servitude Unchained”

Book Summary:

Red Sun and Merlin Unchained are the most recent original stage works by one of the most accomplished yet neglected dramatists of our time. Red Sun is a two-hander, tightly tethered within the classical unities of theme and space and the span of a single day. Merlin Unchained is an explosive, multitudinous epic, crossing continents and centuries and passing between worlds. Yet though technically so different, both works speak with the same distinctive voice, offering an exhilarating--and sometimes disturbing-- challenge to the cultural and political perceptions of the contemporary audience, and exploring alien worlds that, alarmingly, begin to become recognizable as our own.
